Family Farm…

Super relaxed family session, middle of some farmland, great overcast sky: this was a great day! Jill and her family had such a cool hangout spot just a few minutes on foot from the house they had all grown up in. Granddad built a small fire, where they had a camp-out style breakfast the day before, and we had a great time hanging out in their little spot- so personal and unique…I cannot tell you how much I love this! Plus, they had a killer backdrop: an old barn! The city girl in me loved the structure and architectural elements, so we had some great shots there as well! Thanks Jill for asking me to be a part of the family for the afternoon- it was truly fun! Enjoy!

Sweet Spring Wedding: Alan & Maddie

Maddie and Alan had the perfect Spring Wedding! The sweetness of the two carried throughout the entire day. We did the First Look to start the day of shooting, which really captures the fun and excitement of the two “almost” married. They were all smiles, super calm, and GREAT dancers! They were so comfy around each other, everything felt so genuine and love-filled. The dusk ceremony was at the beautiful Chapel at Elfindale Mansion and the couple exited with everyone blowing tiny bubbles into the air. The evening reception was at our favorite venue, the FireHouse on Commercial Street! We loved their coffee details, as Alan and Maddie met while working at Starbucks. The table names were the different roasts, while the decor was a cute mix of antique books and vintage tea sets, pastel puffy decorations, and tea lights. Wonderful night for a wonderful couple. Afternoon with the Jester’s…

What a wonderful afternoon spent with these guys! This type of day reminds me why I love what I do so much: spending time with family, kids, laughing and smiling…Sure, there was a meltdown (or two!) but everything went great. Mom Kristin even brought sweet lolly pops for the boys for the end of the shoot, which were bright, poppy, and playful. This family is the perfect example of how to dress for a family shoot! The coordinate: the style, feel, colors, and fit work beautifully together. The key is to coordinate, not to match! Enjoy….

Rob & Audrey: Engaged and in Love!

This Kansas City couple is the perfect combo: fun, interesting, laid-back go-getters, and very creative. She wore killer shoes (come to think of it, so did Rob!) and her colors were so bright and fun. We toured downtown on foot and ended up having so much to work with. Rob and Audrey’s wedding is coming up this summer so getting to work with them prior to that day is always great! People may think that photographers just want people to book an engagement session just for the $$$, and that is part of it, but another part is getting to know each other and developing a relationship. I always photograph people better after knowing them, and the client always looks more relaxed too! Its a win/win! I love when I have a hard time choosing which photos to edit and post, they had so many great shots, so these are just some of my faves! Enjoy!

Bride: Beautiful

Oh how fun this bridal session was…I totally love the light in the studio, so inserting a beautiful bride-to-be makes for great photos! She really did her work on her eyes- dramatic and beautiful. (Paying close attention to your eyes is a great tip for ANY shoot you do). She brought her late fathers wedding ring which means so much to her, which is just adds a little sweetness to the session…I can’t wait for my next bridal session!

A new cutie pie is here- Sofie! She was a perfect little sleeper and put up with all of our hat changes and bow- tying. She even gave us a little smile in some of the shots! Jeff and Stefanie made sure to have some wonderful props for the session: a knitted blanket and booties, those cute Easter eggs, Jeff’s cowboy boots, and the cutest handmade headbands…everything was perfect. I cannot wait to see how she changes in her first year! Congratulations Jeff and Stefanie!

Fred & Amanda: Engaged and In Love

Happy Easter evening! It was a wonderful morning spent a church then a little landscaping, and I was excited to get some recent engagement session sneak peeks out. Fred and Amanda get married next weekend, so we had a last minute session with the couple downtown. They were so fun and smile-y, truly in love!

Meghan Graduates!

I’m really excited to show off our new “Graduates Session” senior photographer, Jessica! She is wonderfully chill, fun, and super creative. Our latest client Meghan, had a great unique style…I loved her shoes and tights- super fun! Jessica and Meghan spent the sunny afternoon in downtown Springfield, which complimented her looks really well…After 8 years of wonderful business, I’m so thankful to have found Jessica, she is an awesome addition to our studio. All senior sessions booked will have the chance to spend a few hours with Miss Jess, in their favorite places around town- she will not disappoint! More of her work to come- stay tuned!

9 Month Cutie Pie: Scarlette!

Another cutie pie that will make you smile is little Scarlett. For our 9th month session, we did half indoors and the other half outside- she couldn’t have been happier to be outside in the grass that day…isn’t this family so stinkin’ adorable?!? Momma Jen makes sure she is dressed super cute and Daddy Caleb knows just how to make her laugh. And those little red shoes in the outdoor shots were a gift from her super cool Auntie Carrisa- from one of her adventures around the world.

Making sure you have cute, fun, yet simple props are a must for kid sessions…I knew that it would take Scarlett a few minutes to warm up to me again, so I quickly filled 3 small colorful balloons and tied white yarn to them. The yarn was much softer and heavier than normal ribbon, so they kept the balloons closer to the floor where the she could reach them…We played with her tea set before getting started, and that did the trick! She was all smiles! I guess the next time I see her she’ll be walking!?! Wow!

Next on the calendar for Scarlett- a smash the cake 1 Year Old Session…these are a blast…stay tuned

Welcome, Baby Dylan…

Dylan is here and he has blonde hair!!! So cute and a hungry little bugger, mom took time to feed him during the session and it worked like a charm…And he loved loved loved daddy holding him, it would instantly calm him down and send him to sleepy land, which is perfectly fine for a newborn session…Also, this was a great reminder to tell future baby clients why we take a few hours for the session: we build time into the session to feed and soothe the little one. Rushing just doesn’t work with babies- believe me, I’ve tried. I think when the mom and dad relax, the baby does too…

I think I have forgot how soft newborn feet and hands are, and oh how tiny…tiny toes, tiny fingernails…Dylan was a delight to work with and I can’t wait to see how his face changes over the next year.
